I have given about 30 or so critique threads, so a model friend indicated, it's my turn to put my butt in the pan and take some constructive feedback from the models.

It's simple -- My port will impress you, bore you, entice you or scare you.

Would you work with me ? If not why, if so .. why

If we worked together what would be your interest (theme / ideaset)..

Thanks in advance, I hope I can improve with your feedback

Well here's the thing - you're amazing. You have such talent and your portfolio is amazing. Whenever I see that you're offering critique, I jump on it because someone on your caliber clearly knows what he's talking about. That's my two cents.

I appreciate the input..

However, I'm well aware I have much room to grow, so I'm at a point where I need to buckle down and start trying to compare to some of the greats on here..

That means deviating from the dark work and moving more to some more mainstream and hopefully commercial looking styles..

But it feels like trying to get Charles Manson to run a daycare.. (no, I'm not Charles Manson, that's just my metaphor for how difficult this is)

Good point. But with images like this -

I can't imagine the difficulty showing in what you produce. This is by no means "mainstream" or "commercial" but it's definitely not part of that dark style. And with your kind of talent, why go towards mainstream or commercial?

I adore your work so i would jump at the chance to work with you. I think you are extremely talented. I would want to do stuff like the work you did with mosh or the darker stuff on your first page. It's all very well done.

See you basically don't shoot males. I wouldn't contact you specifically looking to add something to my port...but I think we could get some cool old school shots in this style/processing:

...aiming for a james dean vibe/look.

p.s. this is awesome! haha big_smile

I think you have shots in your portfolio that are just a WOW. I cant describe it any other way. Than you have some that are ok. I would remove the ones that are ok and keep adding onto the WOWs, I believe in time you will have so many WOWs that you wont have space for anything else. You are creative and can get that special shot..just push it harder and try all that you can try.

I would definitely photograph men if the right models came around.. In my area, it's tough to find good male models..

However, I would most definitely shoot with you given the opportunity.

What defines an "OK" shot for you ?? I think all are just ok, so I have no idea which ones you would think should go in the flusher pooper thing.

I think they are still good, but there are just quite a few that are so good that they make the rest look well not comparable. I commented on some, there are some nudes that are amazing that I did not comment on, but I can go back and comment. That is just my impression, see what other comments you get. I will mark the ones I think are amazing.

It was not without effort to comment on all those amazing pics, so I hope you appreciate my honesty. I marked each one I think is amazing with some type of varying comment. Those are your stayers in my opinion.

You seem to do better with the "darker" images than with glamour and some of your pin up ones. Do you have more interest in one genre than another?

No, I have no preference, but I think I'm better at darker images, which in fact makes me want to shoot more glamor and pinup and fashion images..

Okay, your work is good, I'm not going to gush and call it amazing because some of your photos are great and then others are either 'eh. ok' or just bad, imo. I'm going to first concentrate of the ones I think are the worst.

The background is your downfall of that one as well as the tacky purple lights shining on the sides. I would have also picked a different chair for the model. She is great in the image though.

Everything in this image, especially her skin, seems washed out/faded except for her lips, it looks bad.

Would be better with a different background. Cute shot but definitely not outstanding even with a different background. Just not enough to it interest wise.

Kinda looks as if they were photoshopped into the photo. Everything is on the verge of looking fake or like cheap yearbook/senior photos.

Now, onto the stuff I like, because you do have a lot of awesome images. Love everything in your retro pinup album, you do that very well. I also really like this image

I also liked a lot of shots in your 'other' album.

Overall, you are good. I would most likely work with you if given the oppurtunity.

See, I love that first one...that is a problem with any art...the subjectiveness, and other than technique all else is art.

There are only three images in your port that I felt were "lacking".

http://modelmayhm-9.vo.llnwd.net/d1/photos/090802/02/4a7563530f521_m.jpg
This one is poorly lit, imho. Her shoes and much of the chair are lost or almost lost in the darkness. The lights are a bit tacky and I'm not sure if it's her eyes that are in focus or her boob. sad Not a fan of this one.

http://modelmayhm-9.vo.llnwd.net/d1/photos/091016/20/4ad93bae9cebd_m.jpg
The skin on both models looks weird for some reason. A little too smooth and golden maybe? Also, not sure why the photo was taken. It doesn't really tell a story or sell a product or any other thing I can think of. Almost every other one of your images tells a story about a character except for this one.

http://modelmayhm-9.vo.llnwd.net/d1/photos/090712/22/4a5ac2441d1d1_m.jpg
She looks photoshopped it. Just not believable.

With that said though I love your work! If I shot with you, I'd like to do a Greek Goddess shoot. I think you'd come up with some ways to make it look gorgeous.
