Hey everyone! I just read through the rules and don't think I am breaking any so I decided to post this.

Are you tired of the posts for people asking for shooting sites in different cities? Well...

I have started a new site for photographers to share their favorite sites to shoot at. This could be for people or anything. I don't make money on the site, it's free just want to set something up for the world wide photographer community and maybe get some feedback from you guys first. It's really simple, no frills it just does what it's supposed to do. I know some photographers don't like sharing their "secret sites" but there is plenty of work out there we could all benefit form this. www.photographersites.net Let me know what you think or if you think there is value here.

Mods if this is an issue I apologize, I read the rules and didn't see it as an issue.

Thanks!

I see one immediate problem. Us folks from Canada (as well as the rest of the Americas) don't fit in anywhere.

I have europe up there. i just have the permissions all messed up so i am in there fixing the permissions for every album available (there are tons of them) I can only do it one at a time unfortunately. Europe is there though. Give me an hour or so and it should all be good.

Thanks everyone for messaging me and pointing out the bugs. You are literally the first to use it.

This is an awesome idea. I just moved to the east coast and it would be great to find other locations to shoot then just down the street.

It would be nice if it had a link to local laws about permits and stuff like that, I mean the better informed is someone about the specifics they would need to shoot in that location (permits, insurance, property release needed, etc.) the better for them.

The concept is awesome. I have been looking for sites around my hometown, and missed out on a pay gig because it was in another city and I didn't know what good locations were available. The local knowledge of permits, property releases and the like are also so important and so hard to find.

Thanks!

Very good idea. This is world wide so I am not sure if I will be able to get the information for everywhere but I will make an effort as I go here. Possibly help make it user submitted. I will think about the best way for this. Thanks!

I appreciate all the input, keep it coming. I want this thing to work for all of us.

I believe I have everything set for permissions now. Thanks again everyone for pointing out the bugs.

If I have left anyone out geographically please let me know.

Please contribute and most of all, enjoy!

You should remove that nonsense about the photos being safe because right click is disabled.

Why? Just curious. I'm not opposed to removing it. Of course I know there are other ways people could pull the images but the "geberal public" would struggle with those other ways.

I hope it does, make sure you contribute the locations you currently use. That will help make it successful.

David. you read my mind. south texas doesn't seem to have many cool landscapes or buildings where photographers can shoot in peace. been driving around, looking for new spots. will post some gems if I find them. great idea.

This will be necessary so I can keep track of the user base and for statistical purposes. More of a personal thing than anything.

Sorry

Sorry

I did check out your site, and this was the #1 reason I didn't register.  I'm sure you have nothing but good intentions, but there's too much crap out there where personal info can be misused.  Plus I have google earth, and for the most part - photographers usually bug me for my locations (which I happily share - after I'm sick and tired of shooting at them).    big_smile

I respect your decision. To each his(or her) own.

Great idea. There are places that charge loads of money to find good location. If this site actually gets filled with good locations, I will even pay membership fee... smile

That is not ever going to be an option. It will always be free. I might have small little ads similar to the "sponsor" squares on the side if this gets big enough. Another reason to keep track of numbers. If this thing stays cheap enough and the bandwidth and space isn't ever an issue I will refrain from even putting ads on it. If it gets big I will need some help funding it so ultimately that's why I need registered users instead of anyone can post. So I can see if it's all worth it.

Dave

Would be cool if this gets adopted and takes off.  I've been looking for such a site for a while.  Good luck!

Great job guys!! Thanks for the help on the bugs. I am going to work a couple more out. Right now I have it set to approve all posts and I don't want that so I am going through and changing it for each album. You won't have to wait for approval anymore. Sorry about that, I didn't even mean to set it up like that.

Lot's of new members and they all came from here (I haven't spread the word anywhere else) I think this will be a winner. Keep up the good work guys.

Because it's nonsense and it leads people into the false belief that there's a way to stop people from saving their photos if they are posted on the Internet.

After you have gone through the search and found a location in, for example, Arizona, how do you go back to the list of states so you can find a location in California?

It's a site I'll forget about.  I like to see the goods before I register. Once I like the site then I'll register and contribute.  I hate to sign up to sites and just see that my area is blank.
